Notice of Race & Sailing Instructions

The 2021 Heineken Cup & Dom Perignon Challenge

For those who are not aware, the Dom Perignon Challenge was initially contested on a Saturday in August – the first being held on 8th August 2008 between Kernowek and Jabulani (now renamed Saluki). The trophy itself can be seen in the DOSC trophy cabinet in The Clubhouse.

Wanderlust is the current Defender of the Dom Perignon Trophy.

The fore-runner to this prestigious event is the Heineken Cup, which started in 2010. The Challenge is open to all boats as a summer fun event and sailed without spinnakers, under the following regulations:

  1. The Heineken Cup, this year, is a series of 4 pursuit races of 100 minutes conducted during the month of July. The fourth pursuit race will be on 23 July, starting at 15:00 hours.
  2. Each boat competing in the Heineken Cup races will receive a supplement of Vitamin H at each sign on.
  3. The Dom Perignon Defender, Wanderlust, may also take part in the Heineken Cup. If the defender wins the Heineken Cup, the yacht placing 2nd will become the Challenger.
  4. The Challenge Race, for the 2021 Dom Perignon Trophy, will take place on 30 July.
  5. The Dom Perignon Challenger must provide a chilled bottle of Dom Perignon to the bar staff at sign-on to be consumed by both crews at the conclusion of the race.
  6. The format of both the Challenge Race & the Qualifying Races are at the sole discretion of the race organizer.
  7. There will be no spitting, biting or swearing! All other rules for the race will be decided by the organizer. The principles of the Rules of Sailing will apply.
