This season has seen interest in SB20 racing ignite. The fleet has welcomed many new owners with a number still looking to buy a boat. With the support of the SB20 Class Captain, the club has an opportunity to facilitate the purchase a number of ex-charter boats after they will be used for this years Worlds in Portugal.
We are gathering as much detail on the boats as we can, much more will be known soon. For now we can tell you:
The boats are 2012 to 2014 built, 35xx hull numbers.
The boats are currently on the long term charter to Naturea Sailing Team. The boats will be prepared and charted for the 2021 SB20 Worlds held in Cascais in September.
The boats which are owned and well maintained by SailCascais, have became the largest SB20 fleet operator in the World.
We expect the price for each boat, delivered to DOSC to be somewhere around AED 50,000 to AED 60,000.
If enough members come forwards and place a fully refundable deposit of AED10,000, the club will be happy to support these members by making arrangements for the collection of the boats in Portugal, consolidating the shipping and handling the import procedures into Dubai at cost.
Deposits will be taken on a first come first served basis. We will review the number of deposits we have received on the 26th July and will be able to finalise arrangements at that time.
