KEY EVENTS IN THE DOSC RACING CALENDAR

THE COMMODORES CUP

The DOSC Commodores Cup is the most fiercely contested and competitive event in the DOSC calendar. Running from September to May, the season usually comprises of between eight to ten rounds.

  • Dinghy: All types of dinghys are welcome! We have multiple fleets, including Laser, Optimist, Weta, Fast & Slow Handicap. We primarily use the windward/leeward course configuration, with separate starts for each fleet.
  • SB20: Our large One Design Fleet has it’s own day! Single fleet racing, promises intense racing all the way from the start to the finish.
  • Keelboat: All keelboats are welcome! We use IRC ratings to run handicap races, and NHC for those that don’t have an IRC certificate. There are different starts for the various classes; IRC1, IRC2, IRC3, Multihull, IRC Cruiser, and NHC, and a variety of courses, such as inshore, and coastal.

SUNDAY SERIES

All types of dinghys are welcome! We run slow and fast handicap races, using the Portsmouth Yardstick. We primarily use the windward/leeward course configuration, with separate starts for each fleet.

RS LEAGUE

Once a month, the RS League provides close knit, short races. Ventures & Fevas are used, in a swap in-swap out style.

WEDNESDAY NIGHT PURSUIT RACE

Every week, a number of keelboats head out after work to compete in the pursuit race. Every boat is given a start time, slowest starting earlier and the fastest boats starting later. The winner is the one at the front at 7pm!

SHORTHANDED SERIES

Much like the Keelboat Commodores Cup, there are a variety of classes and courses run, however only two people are allowed on board! This changes the dynamic and means both crew members must look after a number of jobs.
