Aramex Dubai to Muscat Launches the Beneteau Cup for Cruising Entries in this Year’s Race

We are delighted to announce that Beneteau,a pioneer in high-performance recreational boating, is a co-sponsor of the 29th edition of the upcoming Aramex Dubai to Muscat Offshore Sailing Race (Aramex D2M). The sponsorship sees the introduction of the Beneteau Cup for the event’s cruising class.

The Aramex D2M cruising class was introduced in 2016 specifically for sailors and crews who are keen to participate without the pressure of intense competition. Typically, five or six vessels enter the cruising class for each edition of the event, with many using it as a means to gain the vital experience they need to race offshore competitively in the future.

The 29th edition of the longest offshore race in the region for modern keelboats and multihulls will depart from DOSC on Saturday, 5th February, ending at the Marina Bandar Al Rowdha in Muscat, Oman. Having evolved extensively since its inaugural event in 1992, today, the Aramex D2M attracts the region’s largest and most skilled sailing teams. Founded in Croix-de-Vie, France in 1884 by shipwright Benjamin Beneteau, today the company is renowned as a pioneer in high-performance recreational boating. Beneteau offers 35 different models with high-performance capabilities. The most recent model to be introduced to the brand stable is the new Beneteau First 36. Bridging the gap between high-tech development in the world of racing and mainstream racer-cruisers, the Beneteau First 36 offers exceptional performance combined with comfort, functionality, elegant design aesthetic, and accessible pricing.

Designed by sailors for sailors, the design team is led by Kristian HajnÅ¡ek, CTO of Seascape, who works closely with the team at Beneteau to bring race-grade construction technologies into the segment of production racer-cruisers. Working in collaboration with an elite international group of designers who are all passionate sailors in their own right, central to the First 36’s design is its balance between an easily planing hull and upwind performance. The First 36 features a very high sail area and a balanced nautical design to make her an ideal choice for diverse sailing under varied conditions, from club racing and family cruising to day sailing and short-handed adventure distance racing.
