The Royal Yachting Association (RYA) was set up in 1875, and has become world renowned for its training schemes. There are currently more than 2,400 RYA Training centres worldwide, in more than 58 countries.

The Youth and Adult schemes are all encompassing, for everyone from complete novices to the highest level of racing. It’s focus is to be accessible and more importantly safe, to raise the standards of boating by promoting safe practices.

As an RYA recognized training centre, we are held to the standards of the RYA and all our instructors must be qualified by the RYA. This ensures that training and equipment is kept to a very high standard.

DOSC has a range of powerboats, from a 3.5m to a 39ft twin engine race-mark boat. These are used daily for supporting the sailing activities, be it training, racing, or the SailAbility program (which gets children of determination onto the water).

Powerboats are vital in their support of other water based activities, to provide safety cover or lay down courses. Of course, they are a sport in their own right too; day cruising and fishing are both popular pastimes, and gaining your powerboat license is a very useful thing to have.

For adults, we offer RYA Powerboat Level 2, which is a UK qualification that is recognised internationally. To use your license in the UAE or other countries, you will need to convert it (exactly like a driving license). Following the PB2, we have the RYA Safety Boat course, which teaches you how to recover and rescue a variety of vessels in different situations.

Junior RIB Club is training for anyone 10 – 16 years old, which run during Youth Development Week. This is all about learning to drive safely, while learning the skills for the DOSC Youth RIB Challenge which is held at the end of the week.
