The world’s oldest, largest and most spectacular sailing regatta is happening in the Solent. DOSC is proud to have two teams competing. Team Yalla Shamal skippered by Rachel Blackburn and crewed by Jon Blackburn and Bekky Britton are competing in the SB20 class. Meanwhile John Ashcroft is skippering a mixed team of members and friends of DOSC in the Sunsail F41.0 class, at the halfway point of the regatta both teams are sitting 6th in their fleets and we wish them well for their remaining races.
The 7,000 competitors range from Olympic and world-class professionals to weekend sailors. Up to 100,000 spectators come to watch the sailing, enjoy the parties and live entertainment, and experience the unique atmosphere.
An interesting development is the addition of ‘Visit Abu Dhabi’ as title sponsor and the talk of a winter Cowes Week event in the Capital.
