Jo’s Verne – Round the World Challenge
The Joe’s Verne Challenge was establish by Rear Commodore Joe Gillespie in 2006! It is a play on his name and Jules Verne, author of the famous novel: Around the World in Eighty Days. A clue to the challenge!
The Joes Verne Challenge is an open time trial for the fastest time set sailing around the World Islands.
The challenge will be open from 10am Saturday 30th April to 4pm Sunday 1st May with a deadline to submit entries by 5pm Sunday.
The start and finish point will be a ‘gate’ between two marks laid near to the TWZ15 Entrance, a mark location known to racers as ‘M1’. It is up to the participants to decide which direction they sail (clockwise or anticlockwise). It is a self timed event just for fun.

Prizes will be announced after the Tuesday Night Pursuit Race on the 10th May
For safety reasons circumnavigation of the World Islands is a keelboat event only.
