DOSC is very pleased to announce an addition to the training calendar. An amazing opportunity to complete the Offshore Personal Survival Course and RYA Seas Survival Course, available just in time for the Muscat but tremendously useful to any sailor.
ISAF – Offshore Personal Survival
This training course is aimed at recreational and racing skippers and crews who may encounter rough weather and problems at sea.
This one-day sea survival course covers training in seamanship and emergencies, including heavy weather seamanship, weather forecasting, fire fighting, and man overboard recovery.
At the end of the course, you will have a good knowledge of the safety equipment carried on small boats and the seamanship techniques needed to survive at sea in heavy weather.
RYA Sea Survival
A one-day course for anyone going to sea, providing an understanding of how to use the safety equipment onboard your boat.
An important part of the course is a practical session in a swimming pool. Experience first hand the problems of entering an uncooperative life raft and assisting others while fully kitted out in wet weather gear and a life jacket.
Course topics include:
– life rafts and the equipment they contain
– survival techniques
– the design of life jackets
– medical aspects of sea survival
– search and rescue techniques
