DOSC offers a range of sailing vessels and paddle boards available for rental. Rental of these vessels is limited to individuals who hold specific certifications.

Certain boats from the single-handed dinghy fleet, specifically the plastic training boats, can be sailed with an RYA Dinghy Level 2 or RYA Youth Stage 3 certificate. Sailing RS Ventures, Lasers, and other advanced boats requires a higher level of experience, with a minimum of RYA Dinghy Level 3 or RYA Youth Stage 4 certification.

See the table below for your reference regarding the boats available for hire and the required qualifications.

For experienced sailors without the required certifications, we offer the option to complete a competency assessment conducted by one of our instructors. This assessment allows individuals to demonstrate their skills and, if successful, gain eligibility to hire specific boats.

Rigging & De-Rigging – We Set It Up, You Just Sail!

We’re excited to launch our Premium Rigging Service, designed to make your sailing experience even more convenient. With this service, our team will fully rig and de-rig your boat for you. All you need to do is book in advance and show up ready to sail. We’ll take care of the rest!

DINGHY HIRE rules

  • Hired boats must stay within the designated sailing area (north side of the wall to Night Beach, up to the World Islands exclusion zone). Sailing beyond or landing outside this area is strictly prohibited. Please pay close attention to the exclusion zone marked by the yellow buoy with an X (See diagram for reference)
  • Buoyancy aids must be worn at all times
  • A mast head float must be fitted before leaving the shore, where applicable
  • Used boats and buoyancy aids are to be washed down, stored and covered.
  • Last hire is at 3.30pm. All boats must be packed away by 5.30pm.
  • Minimum rental is 2 hours.
  • Sailors are given 30 minutes grace period for rigging & derigging.
  • Damage must be reported to a member of the Sailing Department immediately; if due to negligence the hirer may be liable to pay for damages
