SARF Round 1 Report

A Golden Start of 2024 for DOSC Sailors

This past weekend, saw the conclusion of UAE SARF National Championship Round 1 at
Dubai Offshore Sailing Club. This was a record breaking event for the SARF with over 100+
boats competing in different classes with the age of sailors ranging from 7 yrs to 63 yrs.

This Ranking event was the first of a 6 round series that is going to be taking place through
the year at different sailing venues across UAE. The top 5 overall results of the sailor out of
the 6 events will be added and considered for the National Ranking.

DOSC had 46 sailors participating in various categories and claimed 14 medals in total.

Our sailors truly shone at the recent event, with DOSC triumphantly claiming gold in an
impressive 6 out of 11 categories. A standout moment was the remarkable breakthrough in
the Optimist class where, for the first time in six years, our team soared into the top three
overall. This achievement marks a significant milestone in our journey and highlights the
relentless dedication and skill of our young sailors. Their hard work and training have clearly
paid off!

In the Optimist Overall category, Lucca Herve(10 yrs) claimed Bronze and the gold in the
Junior Category. Kornelia Pajak(10 yrs) won the Female category and finished 3rd in the
Junior category. Konstancja Pajak (8yrs) followed her sister by finishing 3rd in the female
category and 2nd in the under 9 category. Arthur De Smedt(8 yrs) won the under 9 category
in the optimist.

In the Female category Eva Hardie(14 yrs) won the Bronze for ILCA 4 and Eve Wycherley
won the silver for ILCA 6.

Alex Montanari claimed a spectacular win in the Overall ILCA 6 Category.

Frank Derouen fought hard to claim the gold in the ILCA 7 Grand Master Category

John Woolcock finished 2nd in the ILCA 7 master category followed by Gareth McCormac
finishing 3rd .

Josh Morgan put up a splendid performance with some neck to neck racing and claimed the
gold in ILCA 7 Category.
