Wingfoiling is a sport that has developed on from Wingsurfing, which was first seen in 1981. It didn’t catch on until 2018, when modern technologies for the wing and the commercial success of foils combined to create the sport of Wingfoiling.

Compared to many other watersports, Wingfoiling is incredibly accessible – the ability to sail in almost any wind condition, various benefits of the kit being small and lightweight, and shallow learning curve, make this a great sport to start a watersports journey or add to the existing quiver.

A multitude of disciplines have come from the simple idea of a held wing and foiling board; racing, freestyle, freeride, to name a few. Most commonly at DOSC are freeriders who dabble in freestyle and wave riding, when conditions allow.

We have created a DOSC specific syllabi to develop a set of courses tailored to our specific assets. These will utlise our SUPs, powerboats, and Wingfoil equipment to give you the best progression possible, where each stage of the learning has it’s specific focus. The initial introduction uses the wing and SUP boards, for maximum stability while learning how to control the wing. Following on, an appropriately sized Wingfoil board and foil is towed behind a powerboat, to let you focus on the control of the foil. The final step is to combine these two skills – we’ll take you to the flattest water in the area to maximise success and give the best experience possible.

Our kit is all F-One, one of the best known brands in the foiling world. They are involved with almost all foil sports, and have had riders in the top 10 since the GWA began the Wingfoil competitions in 2021. There is a choice of three different board sizes, three different foils, and a variety of wings ranging from 2.5m2 to 8m2, which will be recommended by your instructor based on the conditions for the day.
