Update: Restrictions and Precautionary Measures from the Dubai Sports Council and Dubai Tourism

The key messages from the Dubai Sports Council (attached) and Dubai Tourism (attached here) are that capacity restrictions for sport and entertainment venues have been eased but still exist.

It is no longer mandatory for participants in community sporting events to be vaccinated or to adhere to age restrictions. This is no doubt very good news, particularly for our younger sailors.

Whilst we look forward to the start of the season, please note the following protocols remain firmly in place.

MASKS:

As per Dubai Sports Council, masks can be removed when participating in sporting activities.

Dinghy sailors should wear masks whilst onshore even when rigging and derigging. Similar advice for Keelboat sailors whom it is recommended to wear masks when exiting and entering the marina. Best to be safe not sorry when it comes to interpreting the evolving rules and regulations.

Masks can be removed when sat a table eating and drinking but must be worn when walking around the club.

SOCIAL DISTANCING:

Again, be safe not sorry. Whilst Social Distancing regulations are easing slightly from 2m to 1.5m between tables, we are still fighting a disease that is easily spread person to person. Protect yourself and others by remaining conscious of social distance. Practice good hygiene and make use of the many hand sanitisers available at the club. If you need some hand sanitiser or a new mask, please ask a member of staff who will gladly assist you.

CREW LIMITS:

Crew limits for keelboats come under the authority of DMCA. Whilst no announcement has been made yet, it is expected that limitations will ease in line with Dubai Government guidelines.

We will notify the membership as soon as we know more on this matter.

PRIZE GIVINGS:

If you are lucky enough to be on the podium, please only send 1 crew member to collect your prize. Please wear a mask and avoid handshakes / high fives with others.
