The regatta presented sailors with much stronger winds and variable shifts this weekend, with racing called short on Sunday to let a squall pass through. Despite the intimidating conditions, DOSC’s young athletes demonstrated significant improvement in handling the demanding sea state, a testament to the club’s coaching focusing on fitness to be better prepared for the heavy airs.
The SARF Dinghy National Championships Round 2 featured five races, with one discard. The event attracted a strong turnout with over 40 optimists and 40 ILCAs across all classes, underscoring the competitive nature of the championship, and the growth of youth sailing in the UAE with teams coming from across the Emirates.
DOSC’s impressive performance not only highlights the club’s commitment to nurturing young sailing talent but also reinforces its position as a leading institution in the sailing community. The club looks forward to building on this success in upcoming competitions with the Youth Regatta starting on 14th February at DOSC, where the club is looking forward to hosting teams from across Asia.
